New breakthrough in neuroscience may help kids with autism

Scientists may be able to alter a disruptive symptom of autism; a hyper-sensitivity to stimuli. RT’s Lindsay France discusses the breakthrough with Hossein Fatemi, a professor at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Minnesota. “Perhaps if one were to introduce medications that could amplify the functions of GABA in the brains of patients with autism, we could improve their functioning,” Fatemi says.
