Gasworks will present 11 shows during Midsumma

GASWORKS Art Park in Albert Park has just released its 2016 Midsumma theatrical line-up.

Midsumma celebrates Melbourne’s LGBTIQ communities and runs from
January 17 to February 7.

Gasworks spokeswoman Tracy Margieson said the people should be excited for the bumper 2016 line-up. One of the highlights of the program is Uncovered, a circus show celebrating coming out. Gasworks is also presenting the 2015 Playtime winner Dion Teasdale with his show, Gone. Another highlight will be Elegy by Lab Kelpie, which was inspired by the photo-journalist Bradley Seeker’s work and explores what it means to be a gay Iraqi in the midst of post-liberation Iraq. The photographs that inspired this performance will be on display in Elegy Photographic Exhibition. Gasworks chief executive Tamara Jungwirth said next year’s program was the biggest she had worked on. “Midsumma at Gasworks in 2016 will be nothing short of astounding,” she said. In total Gasworks will present 11 different shows through Midsumma.
